New business and industry prospers alongside long-time Grayslake businesses that have been in the community throughout the village’s history.

Once you are in Grayslake, you will find low land acquisition costs, and easy access to Lake County’s large labor market. Grayslake continues to expand as a regional center for retail and light industrial development. Space is available in Grayslake for business expansion of all kinds. Residents and businesses benefit from a responsive and effective Village President/Board of Trustees form of local government. The village provides a vast array of efficiently provided services to the community, including Lake Michigan water. The combination of continued effective elected leadership, village staff, and the guidance of the Grayslake Comprehensive Plan will lead this community into the next century.

Both the College of Lake County and the Center for Economic Development, with their extensive personnel training and business services, are located in Grayslake. The College of Lake County has a consistent enrollment of more than 15,000 commuting students. Many local businesses have capitalized on this market, as well as on the stable residential market which has grown significantly in recent years.

The University Center of Lake County, which opened in 2005, is a partnership between 12 colleges and universities working collaboratively to increase both the access to and diversity of programming options in Lake County. Located on the College of Lake County Grayslake campus, this is the first and only such educational institution of this type in the state.

The Lake County Fairgrounds hosts one of the most popular county fairs in the State of Illinois. Various events annually draw more than 500,000 people to Grayslake from all over the Midwest throughout the year.

Grayslake has an excellent school system that has produced some of the brightest students in the State of Illinois. The community is served by three elementary school districts dedicated to providing quality education to Grayslake children. At Grayslake Community High School, students score among the highest in the Chicago metropolitan area on the A.C.T. national college entrance exams. Active parent and booster clubs cooperate to raise funds for playground equipment, football field lights, special events, and extensive school athletic programs. Grayslake is also within easy reach of some of the finest undergraduate and graduate school institutions in the Midwest.

Grayslake Library-The 34,000 square foot Grayslake Library, located near downtown Grayslake, provides residents with everything from state of the art computers and internet access to the newest research and reading materials.

Real Estate Tips
Curb Appeal >Upgrade Before You Sell

Real estate agents sometimes receive calls from homeowners asking for advice on what they should do to prepare their house to go on the market. They may have settled for living in a "less than optimal" circumstance for years, and are now going to spend money to make it nice for someone else to enjoy.

If you are considering painting, updating the kitchen, landscaping, or making any other improvements that will increase your home's re-sale value, think about making those improvements while you are still there to enjoy them. Create your own dream kitchen, master suite or spa, build an outdoor living room or restore your wood floors now. Improving your property will make your home more enjoyable, help maintain the property values in your neighborhood, and expedite the sale of your home when you are ready for a move.
